DISTRICT 41
ERIKA'S PRIORITIES:
Workers are the backbone of the economy, not Wall Street. For too long, corporations have kept prices inflated simply to boost their profits while working class folks fight harder and harder to stretch a paycheck. When I’m in the statehouse, I will fight to make sure Ohioans are the priority, not some Fortune 500 corporation.
Mental health and addiction has touched almost every Ohio family. And COVID highlighted the weaknesses we need to address here in Ohio. Whether it’s a drug addiction, depression or anxiety and so much more, we must prioritize dedicated resources to address mental health issues.
A woman’s right to choose what healthcare decisions she makes in consultation with her doctor is her choice. It is a health decision, it can be an economic decision, it can be a decision to save her own life. Republicans have wasted millions of taxpayer dollars on bad policies aimed at restricting a woman’s rights. Yet you can’t tell me ONE law they have passed to restrict the healthcare choices of men. When I am in the statehouse, women should know that they will always have a strong advocate for their freedom to make their own healthcare decisions.
For decades now, Ohio Republicans have slowly chipped away funding from our public school system. We have had scandal after scandal from online schools like ECOT closing in the middle of the school year to charter schools with no oversight, stealing money from Ohioans – all while leaving our kids behind. As your representative, I will always be a strong advocate for public schools so that every child in Ohio can get a good public education, regardless of their zip code.
I have dedicated my life to teach people how to be more healthy. From healthy eating to getting exercise, one of my biggest priorities is do everything I can to make people live healthier lifestyles. As a Lucas County Health Ambassador, I will come to the statehouse ready to address a growing issue of healthy living in Ohio.
It is time we take an honest look at the infrastructure across Ohio. For too many people, one flat tire is a path to economic hardship. If Ohio is to remain competitive with the rest of the nation, we must have good roads, bridges and access to mass transit. We are already rushing to catch up. When I’m in the statehouse, I will make sure we are constantly addressing how we make it easier for folks to succeed and that starts with our infrastructure.
